About Me

Hi, I'm Joe, a.k.a KZ1SCH. I operate out of western Pennsylvania.

I joined the ranks of amateur radio operators on Dec 10, 2015 as KC3GDR, with a Technician class license, and upgraded to General class on Feb 23, 2016. I acquired my current call, KZ1SCH, on Jan 6, 2017.

My first radio was a Baofeng UV5R, as I was on a budget. Given my housing situation, I have limited my activity to VHF/UHF so far.

Active involvement in the amateur radio hobby for me started in 2018 when I volunteered to join the W3VC Buggy Safety Net of the Carnegie Tech Radio Club, which you can read about here.
